The Wedding of Veronica & Alex

Arlington, Wattle Park, Surry Hills

~ Traditional ~

Life Celebrations - Veronica & Alex Alex and Veronica first met when Veronica was 14 years old as their families were friends. It was much later in life when they finally came together and now have a very close relationship and strong friendship. They wished these aspects of their relationship to be incorporated into their ceremony making the ceremony personal, loving and heart felt.

In the welcome ceremony we focused on telling their story and built the ceremony into a moving account of their love for each other. We included a handfasting ceremony to enhance their vows and with my guidance they created moving vows for each other. This was a traditional style wedding that was deeply moving and meaningful to the couple and all of their guests.

The following are extracts from the Welcome Ceremony, Handfasting and Vows.

Welcome Ceremony

The story of Veronica and Alex, is a divine connection filled fate and magic grace.

Life Celebrations - Veronica & Alex Alex and Veronica met many years ago. Veronica's first memory of Alex was when she was only 14 years old. Their families went on a day trip to Red Joanna a beach. Veronica remembers Alex on the beach with his surfboard by his side. She thought he was the biggest spunk! She remembers running up and kicking sand at him to get his attention, annoyed he looked up and said, "You're a pest."

The next time their paths crossed was at the warehouse nightclub, in Melbourne. Alex and Veronica spent the night sitting on a couch in the lounge talking. They parted the travelled out into the world and their lives.

Some time later, as fate would have it, the opportunity arose to meet again. A wedding. Veronica was certain that the invitation was a sign that it was the time for Alex and her to reunite.

Life Celebrations - Veronica & Alex Alex on that day was the best man. And he was secretly hoping to once again to connect with Veronica.

The few times that their paths had crossed Alex had felt attracted to Veronica but he never thought we would fall in love so deeply with her.

Magic happened that night at the wedding.
Love blossomed, and within weeks marriage was spoken.

Even though Veronica knew she would reconnect with Alex she didn't know just how much she would love him and how happy she would be with Alex in her life.

Alex knew Veronica was the one, he had been waiting for, for a very long time and he knew that he could spend the rest of his life with her. He fell in love with her and continues to fall more deeply in love with her as every day unfolds. He loves Veronica's personality, playfulness, sense of humour, her smile, her beauty and the way she loves him.
She truly is the girl of Alex's dreams.

Fate and the magic of love have brought us here today.
Alex and Veronica want to share their happiness with you all. So let us celebrate together the love between these two wonderful people.
Let us celebrate the marriage of Alex and Veronica.

Handfasting

Life Celebrations - Veronica & Alex Celebrant:
Family and friends we will now perform a Handfasting ceremony, where Alex and Veronica's hands are ceremonially tied together.

This is an ancient ritual performed by many past cultures, and where the term tying the knot came into being.

Veronica and Alex have chosen white, pink and green ribbons. The white represents peace, sincerity and devotion. The pink romance, honour and partnership. The green ribbon represents health, prosperity and fertility.

As I bind Alex and Veronica's hands together, I bind their commitment and love to each other.

The couple are handed a cord end, while standing side by side. The celebrant holds the remaining ends and ties a knot.

Celebrant:
